CLEVELAND -- ZIP code 44105 has the location of where there are the most foreclosures in the United States. Cleveland City Council passed two resolutions Monday night to help the problem in Slavic Village. Councilman Anthony Brancatilli is the representative of the ward. One of the resolutions passed will make grants available to help with the empty property problem.The other resolution helps bankrupt homeowners make changes to their mortgages. In March, Zach Schiller authored a report for the nonprofit group Policy Matters Ohio, and said it's likely there will be a further increase in foreclosures this year. Leading the state in filings in 2006 was Cuyahoga County, which includes Cleveland.The study said the second-highest number was in Montgomery County, which includes Dayton.
