Police: Voyeur Gets Bolder, Breaks Into Apartment

UPDATED: 9:40 pm EDT August 26, 2007

Another local woman is the victim of a voyeur, NewsChannel5 reported.

Police said the man is getting bolder. They said he started by peeking in windows. Then he broke into an apartment Saturday.

Officials said he has struck about a half dozen times in the Jackson Township community in Stark County.

Police said the man broke into a woman's home around 5 a.m. on Island Drive. She was home alone with her son.

One resident told NewsChannel5 that he has taken away the feeling of security of living in a quiet community.

"Oh, it's a serious issue and I'm glad I'm an empty nester and my kids aren't around. They're back at school and that's one thing, I don't have to worry about that. There's one thing I don't like, I have to be more aware," said Rosemary Mahon.

The man's description is vague. Police said he is a white man in his 20s with dark hair, with a medium build or pot belly. He is 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Jackson Township police. The department is planning a crime prevention meeting to address the issue at 7 p.m. Thursday at the safety center.
