Couple Indicted In Connection With South Euclid Deaths

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Indictments were issued Monday in connection with a July South Euclid shooting. Tabitah Messina, 18, and Carlos Christopher, 19, each face four counts of aggravated murder, four counts of aggravated robbery and four counts of aggravated burglary. They are accused of murdering her father, 50-year-old Rick Messina, and his longtime girlfriend, 43-year-old Sandy Cover.Prosecutors said the pair broke into the home in the middle of the night and killed Messina and Cover with an ax. The coroner said Messina died from multiple blows to the head and that Cover died from multiple blows to the head and back. The daughter and her boyfriend were arrested at an Avery, N.C., hotel room after the fatal shooting. Officers went to the home for a welfare check and found a screen to an enclosed patio was torn and a window in a door was broken. The bodies were found in an upstairs bedroom Arraignment is set for Aug. 27.
