Bond Set At $1M For Teens Accused Of Killing Couple

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Two teen were extradited back to Ohio from North Carolina over the weekend to face charges in connection with the slaying of a South Euclid Couple.Tabita Messina, 18, and Carlos Christopher, 19, appeared in South Euclid Municipal Court Monday morning, where bond was set at $1 million each.Both are charged with two counts of aggravated murder in the deaths of Messina's father, 50-year-old Rick Messina, and his girlfriend, 43-year-old Sandy Cover.Messina and Cover died at their home on Donwell Drive near Bayard Road in South Euclid late last month.The coroner said Messina died from multiple blows to the head and that Cover died from multiple blows to the head and back.The two teen suspects were arrested at a North Carolina hotel room the next day.A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 13.
