Bullets Fly As McDonald's Employee Is Shot, Killed

Police Say Man Gunned Down By Girlfriend's Husband

UPDATED: 10:14 am EDT July 8, 2007

A McDonald's employee was shot and killed just before 11 a.m. Saturday, officials said.

Robert Joslin, 26, of Lakewood, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lakewood police said Joslin was gunned downed by his girlfriend's estranged husband.

They arrested Nathaniel Williams Jr., 22, who was apparently told to stay out of the restaurant's lobby at the Sloane Avenue location. Police said Joslin called police about Williams being in the restaurant moments before the shooting.

When police arrived at the scene, they said they saw Williams running from the restaurant. After a brief standoff, the suspect surrendered.

"People ran for the restrooms, for the back of the restaurant, underneath the tables. It was tragic. It was probably the worst thing I've ever seen," said witness Pam Ghaster.

Charges are pending against Williams, who lives in Cleveland.

An investigation is under way.
