AKRON, Ohio -- A jury reached a guilty verdict Friday afternoon in the case of a wealthy doctor who was shot along the Ohio Turnpike.Donna Moonda, Dr. Gulam Moonda's widow, was found guilty on murder for hire, interstate stalking and two firearm charges.Moonda was shot in the head along Interstate 71 by Damian Bradford, who Moonda met in drug rehabilitation.Moonda cried as the verdict was read and after the jury left the courtroom. She was heard saying, "I did not do this," and, "He was lying."A guilty verdict was expected by many, including the prosecution."We appreciate the time that the jury put in and we'll be doing further work on this case," said Linda Barr, the prosecutor. "Obviously, we're gratified with the outcome of this case but we have another proceeding to get to and I hope you understand that's all the comment we can make."Roger Synenberg, Moonda's defense attorney, said, "Donna is disappointed by the verdict. I think a little bit shocked. This is the second phase that we have to go to and she's taking it as well as any one of us would take it. It's not easy."The jury will return on July 16 to decide on Moonda's sentence. They are expected to hear at least two days worth of testimony before deciding. Damian Bradford pleaded guilty last July to interstate stalking and a gun charge. He will serve a 17 1/2-year prison sentence.
