Teen Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Street

18-Year-Old Driver In Custody, Police Say

Police in Ashtabula said a 17-year-old girl was killed Wednesday night when she was struck and killed by a car.

Police said the girl was crossing on foot at Route 20 and Station Avenue around 9:15 p.m. when a car traveling eastbound on Route 20 went through a caution light.

The driver of the car, 18-year-old Kalen Stewart, is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, one misdemeanor count of street racing and one misdemeanor count of reckless operation.

He is now out on bond.
