ALLIANCE, Ohio -- An investigation headed by the New York City Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosions resulted in the arrests of several people in connection with firearms that were allegedly transported from Alliance, Ohio, to New York City.Police said at least 53 handguns were purchased by Alliance residents and taken to New York City and sold to people who were legally prohibited from owning or using firearms.Police said Aaron Callock, a multiple-convicted felon, solicited other Alliance residents to purchase firearms, which he would then take to New York to sell.Authorities said they believe that one of the firearms was located at a homicide scene in New York where several people were shot.Callock and eight other Alliance residents were arrested on Tuesday.Callock will be extradited to New York to face trafficking and conspiracy to traffic in firearms. The other suspects were turned over the U.S. Marshal Service and were arraigned in Youngstown. The investigation is continuing, and officials said more arrests are possible.
