GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio -- A Geauga County family is upset after a killing suspect is set free three months before his trial.Police, prosecutors and the victim's family said it’s a stunning development that the man accused of killing a college student who dreamed of owning her own restaurant is out of jail after posting the necessary bond.On April 12, Jodie Blankenship was stabbed repeatedly inside a house where she lived with other Hocking College students, police said."It's something that you never think is going to happen to your family. It just doesn't," said Blankenship's grandmother, Rae Cavanagh.Nelsonville police arrested Blankenship's ex-boyfriend, Ron Hendrickson, accusing him in the slaying.Prosecutors asked for a $2 million bond, but the judge set it at $800,000.On Monday, Hendrickson's family used a bonding company to get him out of jail, leaving Blankenship's grandparents feeling frustrated and scared for others. "I'm not happy about it. With a case like that, with murder, why, I think they should stay in, personally," said grandfather Bob Cavanagh. In the quiet Geauga County farming community where Blankenship grew up, her family is focusing on fond memories and hoping the suspect will eventually be locked up for good."We hope for justice to be brought out of this. Twenty-one years is much too young to be leaving this life," said Bob Cavanagh.Hendrickson's trial is scheduled for August. A judge ordered him to have no contact with the victim's family and he must stay at his parents' home in Dayton.
