An Elyria soldier was killed in Iraq over the weekend.

Lane Tollett joined the Army following the Sept. 11 terror attacks. He was killed by a roadside bomb.

On Tuesday, Tollett's father and brothers spoke to NewsChannel5 about the pride and memories they share.

They said Tollett was always smart and tough, a born leader.

Tollett's Elyria neighborhood is also showing its support. Tree lawns on Loyola Drive are decorated with American flags and yellow ribbons.

Tollett is in transit back to Ohio from Dover, Del., under a full military escort. Funeral arrangements are still pending.

His family gives their appreciation to many people, some who they don't know, who have expressed their sorrow and the Tollett family's loss.
