Man Suspected Of Swallowing $30,000 Diamond Ring

Price Tag Still On 2-Carat Ring

Police suspected that one of four Detroit men arrested in a local jewelry store robbery Tuesday swallowed a two-carat diamond ring worth $30,000.

Officials said that their theory proved correct when the ring from Rodger's Jewelry was found in the toilet inside the suspect's cell at the Stark County Jail.

Police in Jackson Township alerted the sheriff's office to the possibility that the suspect had swallowed the ring. So after he had a bowel movement, the county sanitary engineer was called in and sucked the ring out of the suspect's toilet.

The sheriff's office said the ring still had the store's price tag on it.
