Judge Takes Breathalyzer Test After Courtroom Behavior

POSTED: 8:39 am EDT March 28, 2007

A Chardon judge took a Breathalyzer test after reports of odd behavior in the courtroom.

Police said Municipal Judge Mark Hassett took the test on his own Friday to show that he was not impaired.

His blood-alcohol level registered 0.011. Officials said cough syrup could register the same results.

The legal limit for being drunk in Ohio is 0.08.

Officials said a videotape of Friday's court session showed nothing out of the ordinary.

Last year, the judge took a medical leave after a May court session.
