COLUMBUS, Ohio -- There are new developments in an ongoing NewsChannel5 investigation of a Westlake medi-spa.A hearing was held Tuesday in Columbus before the State Board of Cosmetology, where some of the alleged violations found at Bella Derm by state inspectors were officially presented to the board. The spa, owned by Richard Annabella, is accused of providing services outside the scope of practice, specifically questioning whether nurses or cosmetologists were providing medical services without a doctor's supervision.Tuesday's action means there is probable cause to recommend fines and even license suspension, reported investigator Ron Regan.Bella Derm can either accept what investigators found or contest the charges and demand a hearing before the board. The State Board of Cosmetology will not release details of fines or suspensions until the case is resolved.
