CLEVELAND -- The biggest retail development project in Cleveland in 20 years is about to take a big step forward.Home Depot, the first of the new stores at Steelyard Commons, is open. Images: New Home Depot The new shopping center is located just off the Jennings Freeway on the former LTV Steel site and has been in the works for two years.Many got a chance to shop at the store Wednesday night.At the store today, there will be prizes, giveaways, snacks and tours to celebrate the store's opening.About 320,000 people live within five miles of the 126-acre complex.The new Home Depot store will open its doors to the buying public at 6 a.m. A special preview in being held Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. for people to check out Home Depot's latest floor plan and redesigned departments.The next store to open will be Target on March 11 and other stores will open later in the year.The store will employ about 130 people.For more information on Steelyard Commons, click here.
