Deacon Shot, Carjacked Outside Church

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland police said an 80-year-old man was carjacked, shot and pistol-whipped on the city's east side Sunday.Andrew Washington is a deacon at Peace Baptist Church on East 63rd Street.Police said a man shot Washington in the leg at about 3 p.m. He was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition.Police are looking for the gunman and the deacon's 1998 light brown or tan Chevrolet Malibu with license plate number EH13WP.
