CLEVELAND -- A Brook Park father of two was arraigned Friday morning on charges of child rape.Prosecutors said Roy Pompa drugged and raped seven girls at his home and then traded video of the incidents on the Internet.Bond was set at $1 million during Pompa's video arraignment. The investigation of Pompa started earlier this month with the Internet crimes against children unit tracking child porn downloads to Pompa, investigators said.Prosecutors said the technology Pompa allegedly used to victimize the girls brought investigators to his door.Pompa is the first accused predator in Ohio to be prosecuted using cutting-edge technology that tracks child pornography downloads, NewsChannel5 reported. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has compiled a database of victims. When their images are downloaded on the Internet, the software alerts investigators in Ohio and around the country.Such downloads were allegedly tracked to Pompa's computer, and a search of his home led to the discovered of the tapes, prosecutors said.County prosecutor Bill Mason praised the tracking technology."This technology allows us to monitor and continue to follow where child pornography is downloaded and do this again in the future," he said.Mason said the technology has been in use in Ohio since October. He also stressed that this is not an example of Big Brother always watching in cyberspace: the program only monitors downloads of child pornography.
