LORAIN, Ohio -- Police said the mother of a newborn found abandoned in a garage has been identified and charged in the case. According to police, 23-year-old Heather Heck has been charged with felony child endangering and obstruction of police business. Police said the woman admitted that the child is hers.Police said Heck left the infant in her boyfriend's sports utility vehicle while the two went away for the weekend. The baby was found by a neighbor on Sunday after he heard a baby crying. The woman's boyfriend has not been charged, and police said he just found out on Tuesday afternoon that Heck said that he is the baby's father.Police said that the woman apparently had been leaving the infant alone when she went to work. The baby is in fair condition at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. The baby boy could be released as early as Tuesday.Neighbor Robert Arroyo, who found the baby, said only three people have access to the garage. The garage door can only be opened by using an opener."He was in a clothes basket with a blanket over him," Arroyo said. "I opened the door. As soon as I opened it -- it smelled of urine and I saw the face of a baby moving around."Heck is being held at the Lorain County jail and will be arraigned on Wednesday.
