CLEVELAND -- In light of the nation's highest alert for possible terrorist attacks, Cleveland Mayor Michael White has announced Tuesday additional security measures for the city's public utility facilities.

NewsChannel5 reports that authorities will conduct helicopter surveillance patrols over water system facilities within the city of Cleveland and several northeast Ohio suburbs to ensure their safety in case of a terrorist attack.

There is also heightened security over America's nuclear power plants, including the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. The plant is located about 30 miles east of Cleveland.

The Federal Aviation Administration has restricted all commercial flights from a 10-mile radius of the plant.

On the ground, guardsman are armed with assault rifles to secure the front gate of the plant.

People, like Rose Lebaron, who live and work nearby, believe authorities are doing a good job so far.

"I don't think it's affected our store or our area," said Rose Lebaron of Champions Market. "We feel they've done all they can to insure our safety."

Flight restrictions will remain in effect through Nov. 7.
