A 5 on Your Side Investigation has found plenty of crime at northeast Ohio's most popular stores and major shopping malls.

5 On Your Side investigator Ron Regan reported that while you're doing your shopping inside, criminals -- from suspected sex offenders to car thieves -- are lurking outside.

"She was as pale as a ghost. She said, 'Mom, a man just exposed himself to me,1" one shopper said.

One man was caught on tape taking pictures up women's clothing at three different stores.

List: Mall Crimes

In September, he was in court again.

"I stopped going to counseling. I convinced myself that I didn't need counseling and I had a relapse," said Jeffrey Brennan.

A 5 On Your Side investigation searched hundreds of crime records.

Here is list of malls with the most crime:
  1. Great Northern Mall, North Olmsted -- It had 16 cars broken into and five stolen. NewsChannel5 decided to see how much security was there. In the entire mall parking lot, Regan found just one security Jeep. And on the same day, it was found parked with no one inside.
  2. Parmatown Mall -- Crime reports described an incident where a suspected robber broke the driver's window and threatened to shoot him or her. Regan found six stolen cars and 10 broken into. Another victim claimed he was almost kidnapped.
  3. Belden Village, near Canton -- The mall had seven stolen cars, five more broken into and three sex offenses.
  4. (tie)Beachwood Place -- A women was carjacked at Nordstrom's parking garage, three cars were stolen and six more were broken into.

Summit Mall, Fairlawn -- There were five stolen cars and five more broken into.
  5. Crocker Park, Westlake -- Last week, Curtis Soverns was sentenced to years 65 in prison for raping a 22-year-old girl he kidnapped from the parking lot at Crocker Park.

Ten cars were also broken into at the shopping center.

"I noticed my radar detector was missing. All the change in center console was gone, my CD player," said Sandra Lancaster. "I think they should patrol the mall more. Have cops. I mean I see a cop every once in a while come through."

The safest malls and shopping centers in northeast Ohio are the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor, Legacy Village in Lyndhurst and University Square in Univeristy Heights.
