It's almost Halloween, and there's more for children to do in the Cleveland area than just trick-or-treat.

Boo at the Zoo

"Boo at the Zoo" is perfect for those children who want to be spooked but not too scared.

The event, which takes place at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, will feature character performers, jugglers, face painters, magicians, storytellers, creepy crafts and clowns.

Many popular zoo animals will be on exhibit, and zoo volunteers will host live animal programs.

Boo at the Zoo takes place Oct. 20, 21, 22, 23 and the following weekend Oct. 27, 28, 29 and 30, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. each night.

Nationally recognized in USA Today as one of the "10 great places for family tricks and treats," Boo visitors roam the zoo at night while enjoying animal shows and safe Halloween entertainment.

Activities are designed for children ages 3-11. Kids and adults are encouraged to wear costumes.

All tickets are $6. Kids under age two are free. Zoo members receive a $1 discount. Nightly tickets to this sell-out event are limited.

Tickets are available online.

You can also purchase tickets at the zoo's box office, which is open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

The zoo is located at 3900 Wildlife Way. It is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 90 and 480.

NewsChannel5 is one of the sponsors of the event.
