Highway Littered With Hubcaps

ODOT Plans To Clean Up Area

In a quarter-mile stretch of Interstate 90 near Dead Man’s Curve, there are hundreds of hubcaps piling up.

This is especially true in the eastbound lane, NewsChannel5 reported.

One possibility is people are driving too fast over rumble strips along the highway.

If a hubcap gets hit and goes airborne, it could hit and break a car's windshield. Some of the hubcaps weigh as much as 5 pounds.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said it plans to clean up the mess.

"But certainly, if someone sees something like that and it appears to be dangerous, they can call us and we'll get it cleaned up," said ODOT’s Lora Hummer.

ODOT said it cleaned up hundreds of hubcaps in the same area just a few weeks ago.
