Nets Acquire Guard Dooling

POSTED: 6:38 pm EDT July 21, 2008

(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Nets acquired guard Keyon Dooling from the Orlando Magic in exchange for a trade exception and cash considerations in a sign-and-trade deal announced Monday.

"Keyon is a versatile NBA veteran, and we are pleased to add him to our roster," Nets president Rod Thorn said. "His ability to play both the point and shooting guard positions will add flexibility and depth to our backcourt rotation."

Dooling averaged 8.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 72 games for the Magic last season. He also appeared in 10 playoff contests with Orlando this past season, posting 6.6 points and 1.0 rebounds per game, averaging 14.8 minutes.

The eight-year veteran has appeared in 465 games with the Clippers, Heat and Magic, holding career averages of 6.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. The 28-year-old Missouri product was originally drafted by the Magic with the 10th pick in the 2000 NBA Draft.
