Williams, Cavs Crush Bobcats

POSTED: 1:11 am EDT November 1, 2009

(Sports Network) - Mo Williams finished with 24 points, going 5- for-8 from three-point range, and Cleveland took a 90-79 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats, on a night that saw Cavaliers guard Delonte West make his season debut after a tumultuous summer.

West, who has been dealing with personal and legal issues, tallied 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field. Over the summer, he was arrested for carrying concealed weapons and also had been dealing with depression.

"He sits out for two weeks and he's right back in the flow," said LeBron James, who finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. "He's that type of guy. It wasn't a surprise he was able to come out tonight and still be in the comfort zone."

Anthony Parker also had 13 points for the Cavs, who have won their last two after beginning the season with two consecutive losses.

Vladimir Radmanovic came off the bench to score a team-high 12 points for Charlotte, which was coming off a two-overtime win over New York on Friday. Gerald Wallace added 11 points and nine boards in the setback.

"Obviously guys are tired. The double-overtime game ended late," said Bobcats center Tyson Chandler. "We had a shot at this game. We had a lot of turnovers that put us out of the game."

Anderson Varejao had two baskets near the end of the back-and-forth first quarter to help Cleveland take a 25-21 edge into the second.

The teams continued to trade points in the second quarter, and a James jumper with a little over a minute left pushed the Cavs' lead to seven. However, a Chandler free throw and layup from Raymond Felton drew the Bobcats within 45-41 at the break.

Charlotte then opened the third with five consecutive points to take the lead, as Felton's jumper made it a 46-45 game.

But Cleveland responded with a six-point burst, capped by a Parker three for a five-point margin. After holding a lead of several possessions in the middle parts of the third quarter, the Cavaliers pulled away with a nine-point run.

West fueled it with seven points, including a three with just over a minute left for a 66-51 Cavs lead. A D.J. Augustin free throw and Wallace jumper got Charlotte within 12 going into the fourth, but the Cavs opened up the final frame with three jumpers.

West had the final two to push Cleveland's lead to 72-54. Later, a three- pointer from Radmanovic got the Bobcats within 10, but Williams drilled back- to-back threes and Shaquille O'Neal sank two free throws for an 82-64 advantage with just under six minutes left, and the Cavs cruised the rest of the way.
