Blazers Sign Draft Pick Batum

Portland, OR (Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers signed forward/guard Nicolas Batum to an undisclosed contract Tuesday.

Portland traded its rights to Darrell Arthur, the 27th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, and Joey Dorsey, the 33rd overall pick, to the Houston Rockets for the rights to Batum, the 25th overall pick, on draft day.

The 6-foot-8, 190-pound Batum spent the past three seasons playing for MSB Le Mans in the French ProA League, where he averaged 12.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists a season ago.

Batum logged an average of 27.2 minutes of floor time over five games in the recently completed NBA Summer League in Las Vegas finishing with averages of 6.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
