Turiaf And Warriors Complete Deal

POSTED: 1:43 pm EDT July 19, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors officially signed restricted free agent forward Ronny Turiaf away from the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.

The Warriors tendered Turiaf an offer sheet on July 10, the same day the team signed forward Corey Maggette. The Lakers received the paperwork the following day and had seven days to match the offer, but failed to do so.

"We're fortunate to add a player with Ronny's intangibles to our team," said Golden State executive vice president of basketball operations Chris Mullin. "He's a young, high-energy player who will provide our squad with additional frontcourt depth, rebounding and interior defense. He played a significant role and a lot of crucial minutes on a team that advanced to the NBA Finals last season."

Turiaf, 25, averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 78 games (21 starts) last season with the Lakers, his third with the franchise.

In 173 career regular season contests, the Gonzaga University product has averaged 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds.
