Job Outlook Improving Slowly, Like Economy
Experts Say The Worst Is Over

CLEVELAND -- Northeast Ohio lost thousands of jobs when the economy turned sour.
According to NewsChannel5, there are new opportunities to be found as the economy recovers.
Sandra Harris lost the job she held at LTV for 29 years. She began searching for another job in the steel industry but nothing turned up or paid as well. Instead of giving up Harris changed gears and went back to school to begin a new career.
"Computer support specialist. I want to get into that field, " Harris said. "When I looked on the Internet Web site they stated that was a fast-growing field until the year 2010."
Indeed, labor market experts say the computer field is still among the fastest growing.
However, jobs are also available in other areas, like the medical industry. They say the car industry is on a slow but stable rebound. And, home construction jobs are increasing as well, spurred by low interest rates.
According to Kenneth Borokhovish, a Cleveland State University economist, "There shouldn't be too many more layoffs. The economy truly is recovering. There won't be much going on. In fact there will be jobs being added."
A number of those jobs are in one of the following four expanding career fields:
- Financial services
- The health care industry
- Computer technicians and electronics sales
- Manufacturing
