Ohioans get lucky playing the Ohio Lottery

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio - More than a few Ohioans have won playing the Ohio lottery in the past couple of weeks.

Seven players in the North Canton area have claimed their winnings in the last few days.

The winners include Mary Dean of Ravenna, Barbara Merriman of Alliance, Frances Harris of Akron, Abby Bolon of Canton, Candace Powell of Akron, Shaukat Raja of Beach City, and Ivery Washington of Akron.

The prize money for the winners ranged from $5,500 to Ivery Washington's $50,834 winnings from the July 2 Pick 5 drawing.

Daniel Molchan of North Royalton got lucky when he won $5,500 and an entry into the Top Prize Drawing from a Money Mania Extra Play ticket in November of 2011.

Molchan's luck extended when he won the Top Prize Drawing worth $150,000 on July 11, 2013.

Molchan's ticket, which was purchased at  a Marathon gas station in Newburgh Heights, was one of 27 entries in the Top Prize Drawing.

Along with the prize money being awarded to Molchan, the Newburgh Heights Marathon gas station will also be awarded $1,500 for selling the top prize ticket.

NewsChannel5 broadcasts the Pick 3, Pick 4 and Pick 5 drawings at 7:29 p.m. Monday through Friday as well as the the Ohio Lottery's 'Cash Explosion'  game show at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday nights.
