NEW YORK - With the holiday shopping season coming, and to get customers into its stores, Toys 'R Us announced Tuesday it will match its prices against competing retailers on all items from Toys 'R Us or Babies 'R Us stores.
To get the price match, a customer just has to bring the local competitor's current, valid print advertisement in showing the identical item available for less.
The deal is also good on prior purchases.
Customers can get a price adjustment on their purchase if they see the item advertised for a lower price up to seven days after their purchase at Toys 'R Us.
This is the companies latest strategy to compete against retailers like Walmart, Target, Kohl's and Sears.
Recently, Toys 'R Us also announced a free layaway plan for the holidays which runs through Oct. 31. After that date, the retailer will charge a $5 service fee for layaway.
It is also offering a "hot toy reservation" offer. This allows customers to reserve certain toys with a 20 percent deposit.
