CLEVELAND - A pet food maker is expanding its recall of dry pet foods because it could be contaminated with salmonella.
Natura Pet Products said recent testing found the presence of Salmonella in cat food and treats in addition to the pet foods already recalled, and as a precaution, the company is recalling products made around that same time.
No related illnesses have been reported.
The recalled products were sold through veterinary clinics and pet specialty retailers nationwide as well as online, and include some California Natural, Evo, Healthwise, Innova and Karma dog and cat foods as well as Innova cat treats.
Salmonella can affect both the animals eating the food and the humans handling it. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, stomach cramping and fever.
