From 12:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5th to Sunday, August 7th at 11:59 p.m., shoppers in Ohio will get a break from sales tax thanks to a House bill that was passed earlier this year

During the holiday, the following items will be exempt from sales tax:

  • Clothing priced at $75 per item or less

  • School supplies priced at $20 per item or less

  • School instructional material priced at $20 or less

Items used in a business or trade are not exempt from taxes, for a full list of frequently asked questions, please see the Ohio Department of Taxation's website
