CLEVELAND - Don't look now, but Christmas is less than two days away.
Don't worry, though, if you've put off those gifts until now: we are on your side with great last minute deals that will save you some cash.
If it seems like stores are giving more discounts this year, it’s because they actually are. ABC News reported there are 13 percent more discounts this season and stores are getting creative with their savings.
Getting to the deals starts even before you get to the stores. We saw plenty of people packing parking lots and malls trying to get those last-minute gifts. “It's a little rough," said Will Wilke as he described the shopping crowds Monday afternoon. He was coming out of Toys R Us in North Olmsted at the time, but his battle was well worth it.
"This drum set was regularly $99,” he said pointing to his purchase in a blue Toys R Us store cart. “I got it for $54. I was surprised. I was pleasantly surprised,” he added.
Toys R Us is staying open until 9 p.m. Christmas Eve, which gets the thumbs up from many people, especially after they saved big time on the store’s Little Tykes toys. There were even game tables still 50 percent off.
"There's nothing like last-minute deals,” said shopper Alex Fuentes. “That's why they're called the deals, because you leave it for last minute and you get a bargain,” he told us.
As we hit South Park Mall, many people just like Fuentes were drawn in by the last-second savings including 70 percent off Aeropostale, buy-two-get-one-free stocking stuffers at Claire’s and more.
"Well, the last thing we bought… that was about 75 percent off down at Macy's,” said Eva Wingler. “So we got a really good deal on that."
"I bought my little sister an Xbox game,” said Maria Allen. We asked if she got a good deal. “Yeah, I got it for 20 bucks,” she told us while pulling it halfway out of the bag.
Other deals include a Walmart in-store offering of a 128G iPad Air for $799.
Best Buy has the iPhone 5s for $124.99 with a two-year contract.
Kohl's has deep discounts on toys plus get $10 Kohl's Cash when you spend $50.
Close to 40 stores have extended their hours, so you have more time to wear your savings like a champ.
