Dealnews breaks down 5 items you can buy in February at a discount

CLEVELAND - Here's a look at the top things to buy in February, because you'll save a lot of cash.

1. Valentine's Day savings
You won't save a lot, but you still don't have to pay full price. Dealnews said look for coupons to Victoria's Secret, and jewelry sites like Netaya, ICE, Limoges Jewelry, and Ross-Simons. If you want to shop a department store, look for 15 percent to 30 percent off coupons.

If you don't have a date, look for freebies from restaurants. Last year, Waffle House, Krispy Kreme, and Qdoba. However, you had to kiss someone at Qdoba to get your second entree free. It will be interesting to see if they offer that again.

2. President's Day sales
Department stores have big sales to celebrate President's Day. Dealnews said expect up to 80 percent off of apparel, tools, bedding and furniture.

3. Tax software
The deals this year have been stronger than last year, so dealnews expects the savings to continue through February. There are already markdowns of up to 58 percent off for Turbotax and H&R Block software.

4. Coats
There are reports that some coat manufacturers are not selling as many winter coats because the weather hasn't been that cold in some parts of the country. Dealnews said The North Face has offered twice as many deals this year, and it's expected others will follow.

5. Electronics
Items revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in January will begin hitting store shelves, so stores will need to make way for new products. Small gadgets and audio equipment are expected to top the list of savings.

Also, look for savings on televisions. Prices on the 55 inch and 60 inch 1080p LCD HDTV are the lowest dealnews has seen in the last twelve months. For name brand 60" sets, look for prices at or below $900. For third-tier sets, the price should be around $750.
