Abercrombie & Fitch announces anti-bullying campaign in wake of plus-size clothing controversy

CLEVELAND - Abercrombie & Fitch is trying to create some good buzz after its CEO's comments about not making women's plus-size clothing created an uproar.

The retailer is pledging to support anti-bullying efforts around the country. They will offer a college scholarship to students who persevere in the face of bullying or lead anti-bullying efforts. The scholarship will be available next year though the National Society of High School Scholars Foundation.

The company also plans to lead conferences at high school across the country to educate students on the effects of bullying and how to prevent it.

The move comes just weeks after comments made by Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries surfaced. Back in 2006, Jeffries said the brand targets the "cool kids" at school, and they don't consider plus-sized women as being a part of that group.
