CLEVELAND -- Move over, Kaufmann's: Macy's is taking over in northeast Ohio.The Cincinnati-based Federated Department Stores Inc. said it is planning the biggest marketing blitz in its history for this Saturday's name changeover, NewsChannel5 reported.The company will launch ads on television, radio, billboards and the Internet, as well as magazines and newspapers.Federated Department Stores Inc. became the nation's largest department store retailer when it bought May Department Stores Co. last year in an $11 billion buyout. The promotions are aimed at building Macy's into a nationwide brand while luring customers of the former May stores that include such longtime retailing names as Foley's, Filene's, Kaufmann's, Robinson-May, Strawbridges and Marshall Field's. The company said the switch will give them 800 Macy's locations in 45 states.
