CLEVELAND -- Many cameras are too complicated, so you may be amazed at one video camera, according to 5 On Your Side consumer specialist John Matarese. You always need blank tapes and charged batteries ready to go for most cameras, but what if home videos were as easy as pointing and shooting? Matarese said the camera is called the Point and Shoot Video Camcorder because it is essentially that simple. Lunchtime workers were amazed when Matarese showed the $125 camera made by Pure Digital. It records 30 minutes of video with no film and no tape. Robert Floyd was sold. "Apple iPod, move over," he said. "This is the next big thing." When you are finished, you can watch the video on your TV set or home computer through simple connectors. You can also take it to CVS and have it made into a DVD. There are two downsides. There is no viewfinder, so footage can be a bit shaky, Matarese reported. Dan Argo pointed out that it doesn't hold enough video for a long trip."It's only 30 minutes, so I’m not sure it's a good vacation camera," Argo said. The cameras are available at Target. The company also plans to license the technology to RCA, so the technology may soon be everywhere.Go to www.shopzilla.com to compare prices.
