Often during the holiday season, consumers are bombarded with catalogs, e-mails and phone calls -- all of which are trying to get you to buy something.
If you are fed up, there are two sites you should visit: privatecitizen.com and junkbusters.com.
If you are fed up, there are two sites you should visit: privatecitizen.com and junkbusters.com.At junkbusters.com, you can get a list of things to do to stop telemarketers.
And if you are tired of junk e-mail, there are tips on how to get rid of that, too.
Another site, www.privatecitizen.com, gives you a chance to place your name on a list -- private citizen directory -- so that telemarketers will not call and solicitors will not send mail.
After you are placed on the private citizen directory, companies will be notified. And for a little added protection, the notification will warn that there will be a $500 fee if they contact you.
The Web site also says that non-profit and survey calls also will stop.
Here's the catch. The service costs $10.
