SANDUSKY, Ohio -- The owners of Cedar Point amusement park have
struck a deal to buy Six Flags Worlds of Adventure near Cleveland.
Sandusky-based Cedar Fair values the deal at $145 million. Cedar Fair said the park will be renamed Geauga Lake beginning
with the upcoming season. If you're a long-time amusement park fan, you may remember that was the name of the park before Six Flags bought it back in 1995. Six years later, it bought the neighboring SeaWorld of Ohio and
combined the two parks into one. Six Flags expanded the park with new roller coasters and thrill
rides, but the company hasn't been happy with attendance or profits at
the park, which have dropped drastically over the past two years.Cedar Fair says all the rides at the park will remain intact, but the animals will be relocated by Six Flags. It is unsure what will be done with the former Sea World portion of the park. For those that already hold season passes for Six Flags, they can either receive refunds, or trade them in for Geauga Lake passes when the park opens in May.The price of tickets has not yet been determined. If you would like more information, visit www.cedarfair.com.
