Residents Can Have Names Deleted From Direct Mailing Lists

CLEVELAND -- Are you tired of having your mailbox and e-mail inbox crammed with junk mail?
On Your Side Troubleshooter Chris Caswell reported on ways to cut down on some -- but not all -- of the unwanted snail mail and junk e-mail that arrives daily.
To have your name deleted from direct mail lists, you can write a letter and send it to: Direct Marketing Association, Mail Preference Service, PO Box 643, Carmel, NY 10512.
To opt out of unsolicited commercial e-mails, fill out an online form at www.e-mps.org.
Also, the three major credit bureaus offer a toll-free number that allows people to opt out of receiving pre-approved credit offers by mail for up to two years.
Dial 1-800-5-OPT-OUT for more information.
You can also notify the three major credit bureaus that you do not want personal information shared for promotional purposes. Send a letter to each credit bureau:
