CLEVELAND -- The package has a new look, but it's the same formula, according to Troubleshooter Chris Caswell.
Caswell found out that using Febreze on some clothing is a bad idea, although the product has grabbed a lot of attention for its ability to neutralize odors.
Some consumers have started using the product on their clothing instead of footing a bill at the dry cleaners.
But the International Fabricare Institute says that the product may erase more than the smell.
Caswell said you may be left with a spot because there's a definite disruption of the dye.
Caswell added that dry-clean only garments shouldn't come into contact with water. Febreze's main ingredient is water.
She added that you also shouldn't try using Febreeze on finer garments, such as silk.
Alcohol is the second ingredient and it may also harm some fabrics.
Caswell added that if you still want to freshen your clothes with Febreze, you may want to test a small corner to see how the fabric reacts. The bottle said it is not recommended for leather.
