Alleged Scam Artist Makes Basic Mistake
Normal Subscription Costs Half As Much

CLEVELAND -- One local woman opened her front door and her pocket book to help what she thought was a local school group.
Then Karyn Kasnik called On Your Side to warn others not to become their next victim.
"She (the girl at the door) was very energetic and very lively. She bonded with my son, and they started playing games at the door. (She was) selling magazines," Kasnik said.
The girl said she only needed to sell a couple of more magazines to win a spring break trip to Cancun, Mexico, reported Caswell.
"I love my magazine, so I felt as though, support her, and I'll get my magazine for another year, or as she said two years, (and) everybody would be happy. But it didn't turn out that way," Kasnik said.
The first problem was a two-year subscription to the magazine would cost Kasnik $49, but the same subscription ordered through the magazine directly would only be $20, reported NewsChannel5.
At this time Kasnik sensed a red flag, but she still wrote the girl a check to Palmetto Marketing. Then, Kasnik traced the company's name, and learned the company has an unsatisfactory record with the Better Business Bureau. Caswell said the college student was probably a seasoned sales person for the company. So Kasnik immediately canceled her check.
According to Caswell, you should ask questions and research the organization through the Better Business Bureau or the rip-off report, to avoid a scandal.
