One of northeast Ohio's most notable bookstores is putting its rare inventory up for auction, NewsChannel5 reported.

The Bookstore on West 25th is swamped with debt and cannot stay open any longer, the owner said.

For years, the independent bookstore stood as a cultural landmark, selling rare and out-of-print books.

An auction was held at the shop on Sunday. Books not sold at auction will go on sale Monday.
