Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in NewsChannel5 Troubleshooter. Because we receive so many calls, letters and e-mails for help, it may take a while to get back to you. We will try to answer your complaint as soon as we can.

What kinds of problems does the Troubleshooter Team handle?
We deal with primarily consumer issues, usually involving, but not limited to, the purchase of goods and services by individuals.

Are there problems that the Troubleshooter Team won't handle?
Yes. We do not handle child custody cases, divorce disputes, criminal cases, legal issues, medical malpractice situations or civil rights violations. We also cannot offer legal advice. We can, however, refer you to an agency that might be better suited to help. An extensive list of agencies and organization is available in the Troubleshooter Guide.

Does the Troubleshooter Team resolve every complaint?
While it doesn't work every time, we often are successful in helping you get a full or partial resolution to your problem or concern. Please remember, we are not lawyers and we have no legal authority to force any action. We are simply offering to help you solve your problem.

What does the Troubleshooter Team do once I've submitted my complaint?
We send the company or business your complaint in writing and allow them a chance to respond. We also encourage you to keep the lines of communication open with both them and us.

I called a few days ago, when are you going to return my call?
Complaints are reviewed in the order they are received. We received over 100 calls, e-mails and letters a day. We'll get to you, just be patient.

Could my problem be a story on NewsChannel5?
Each complaint may be subject to a news report on our television station with the opportunity for both sides to participate in the story.
