A former Glenville High School football star was sentenced Monday to life in prison.

Ryan Driggins will have the possibility for parole after 38 years. Last week, a jury found Driggins guilty of murder, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary in the 2007 shooting death of 69-year-old Glenn Rankin.

Prosecutors said Driggins, then 18, entered Rankin's St. John Avenue home to rob him. He shot Rankin to death and fled the scene.

He was arrested about a week later.
