Authorities in Canton arrested an 18-year-old man Monday wanted in connection with the shooting of a Zanesville police officer and his police dog.

Dominick Conley was arrested without incident by Canton police, FBI agents and U.S. Marshal deputies at the intersection of 10th Street and Reno Court SW.

Officers had set up surveillance in the area after learning Conley may have traveled to Canton Sunday night or Monday morning.

Conley was wanted in connection with a carjacking and kidnapping of a woman and her infant child, police said.

Zanesville police said Officer Mike Schiele was serving a warrant when he was shot Saturday night. He was taken to a hospital in Columbus, where he was treated for a wound to an upper leg area and then released.

The dog, Bosco, was shot multiple times and was to undergo surgery at a veterinary hospital in Columbus. Police officials said the animal is expected to survive.
