Toronto's Marcum Toes The Rubber After Stint On DL

POSTED: 12:44 am EDT July 23, 2008

(Sports Network) - Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Shaun Marcum returned from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday to start the second test of a four-game set at Baltimore.

Marcum was roughed up to the tune of seven runs -- six earned -- on eight hits over 4 2/3 frames in Toronto's 10-8 victory.

The 26-year-old Marcum spent time away from the mound with a strained right elbow. He went winless after four straight starts before hitting the DL on June 19.

Marcum was performing as well as any pitcher in the American League, posting a 5-4 record with a 2.65 earned run average, good for fourth in the majors.
