St. Louis, MO -- (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Chris Duncan on the 15-day disabled list and recalled outfielder Joe Mather from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Duncan is suffering from a bulging disk in his neck. The 27-year-old is hitting .248 with six homers and 27 RBI in 76 games this year for St. Louis.

Mather, who was optioned to Memphis earlier in the month, hit .244 with a pair of round-trippers and 5 RBI in 20 games with the big club.
