Rockies' Tulowitzki Headed Back To DL

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Rockies placed shortstop Troy Tulowitzki back on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a laceration on his right hand.

According to the Denver Post, Tulowitzki sliced his palm while slamming a bat into the ground after being replaced in the seventh inning of Friday's wild come-from-behind 18-17 victory over the Marlins.

The 23-year-old Tulowitzki was mired in an extended slump to start the season, then missed 46 games with a torn left quadriceps tendon before being activated June 20. Tulowitzki is batting .166 with three home runs and 16 runs batted in through 39 games this season.

The club also optioned pitcher Greg Reynolds to Triple-A Colorado Springs and recalled both pitcher Glendon Rusch and outfielder Seth Smith from Colorado Springs.

The 23-year-old Reynolds went 2-6 with a 6.71 earned run average in 11 starts for Colorado this season. He allowed seven earned runs in 1 1/3 frames of Friday's aforementioned game with Florida.

Rusch, 33, made one start for Colorado this season, receiving the loss in a May 31 5-4 setback to the Cubs. He lasted 4 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on nine hits and a walk. Rusch signed a minor league contract with the Rockies on May 17 after starting the season with San Diego.

Smith batted .262 (11-for-42) in 12 games with the Rockies earlier this season.
