Harang Has Start Moved Back; Hopper Out For Season

POSTED: 2:31 pm EDT July 4, 2008

(Sports Network) - Cincinnati Reds right-hander Aaron Harang is having his next start moved back to Tuesday because of stiffness in his right forearm.

Harang has been struggling this season despite being a candidate for the Cy Young award the past couple seasons, posting a 3-10 record with a 4.47 ERA. This comes a year after posting a 16-6 record with an ERA of 3.73.

Adding to the injury bug for the Reds is Norris Hopper, who will have season- ending Tommy John surgery on his right elbow after an MRI revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Hopper played in 26 games this season, batting just .200 and only .160 since he returned from the disabled list on June 18.

The 29-year-old outfielder is expected to be ready for spring training next year.
