Kansas Extends Women's Hoops Coach

POSTED: 7:31 pm EDT August 13, 2009

(Sports Network) - Kansas announced on Thursday that head women's basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson has signed a three-year contract extension through the 2013-14 season.

The Jayhawks finished 22-14 last season. That included a 6-10 mark in the regular season of the Big 12. Kansas went all the way to the championship game of the women's NIT before losing to South Florida.

"We are excited about what the future holds, and very pleased that Bonnie will be the coach to lead us into that future," said school athletics director Lew Perkins. "She has done an excellent job building our women's basketball program to a high level in what is perhaps the most difficult conference in the country."

The Jayhawks have participated in postseason play in three of Henrickson's five years at Kansas.
