Uterine cancer is the most common reproductive cancer, but many women don't know much about it, according to health reporter Alicia Booth.

Marisa Warris knows a lot about gardening, but when she found out she had uterine cancer she didn't know much.

"I had never heard anybody, never had a friend, never had a relative that ever had this problem," she said.

Marisa had a hysterectomy and was back at work in a couple of weeks. She didn't experience any hair loss, chemotherapy or any prolonged treatment.

Uterine or endometrial cancer arises in the lining of the uterus. Booth added that uterine cancer usually affects postmenopausal women.

The big warning sign is abnormal bleeding at the very early stages.

Dr. Steven Waggoner of University Hospitals said he can spot the cancer by performing a simple test during an office visit. He added he can sometimes spot the cancer from a Pap test.

Warris has advice for all women.

"No. 1, never miss your annual exam and if you have any symptoms out of the normal, please call your doctor," she said.
